Description

This Cache is an amateur radio APRScache, along with being an EarthCache, too.  For ham radio operators, the geology portion of the cache is optional. To log the APRScache, simply log the location with your APRS-enabled radio at the EarthCache GPS coordinates.

Optionally, you can also log the EarthCache, which teaches more about the geology of the rocks in the Western Sierra Nevada Metamorphic Belt, in Calaveras County, California. The rocks observed are near the Melones Fault Zone, in the Don Pedro terrane, and earthcachers will compare and contrast the angle of repose for the slopes of 2 volcanic domes, approximately 12-7 million years old.

Here are the coordinates for the EarthCache on the Geocaching.com website:

"Tertiary Volcanic Domes"
