Description

This Cache is an amateur radio APRScache, along with being an EarthCache, too.  For ham radio operators, the geology portion of the cache is optional. To log the APRScache, simply log the location with your APRS-enabled radio at the EarthCache GPS coordinates. (Note: The area may be covered in snow during winter months).

Optionally, you can also log the EarthCache, which teaches more about the geology of granitic rocks in the high Sierra. You will observe features associated with granitic rocks, but not derived from the original magma that formed those rocks. Additionally, you will understand more about geologic rates of change and determine a relative rate of weathering of the granitic bedrock vs. the xenoliths observed. Finally, you will learn a bit more about how these features formed and why they can be important to geologists.
